Garden visits-The Gardens of Cornwall

A holiday to The Gardens of Cornwall –  Monday 6th May -10th May 2019  staying at the Pentire Hotel.  The hotel is located on the Pentire head overlooking Fistral beach and close to Newquay town centre.  The hotel has a large indoor pool and spa. The bedrooms have central heating and  bath or shower, WC.and hairdryer  All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities,TV. and radio channels  This well-appointed hotel has a good reputation and is well located for our excursions we will stay here for 4 nights on a half board basis.

Capesthorne Hall and Knutsford

A visit to Capesthorne Hall in Cheshire and Knutsford has been arranged on Monday 18th March 2019.   The  first stop will be the town of Knutsford, you will have time to browse the shops, morning coffee, or maybe lunch if you wish.

We will then travel to Capesthorne Hall.  Capesthorne Hall is the much loved home of the Bromley-Davenport family, the wards, have lived since doomsday times. The present house was built between 1719 and 1732, replacing an earlier building.  The estate is a tranquil haven for wildlife, with it’s parkland, lakes and formal gardens. We also  have arranged  a cream tea included in the cost.  Entrance to the House,Gardens and Chapel are also included in the cost.

Calf’s Head Country House Hotel and Shackleton’s Garden Centre

Wednesday 13th  February 2019

To start the Garden Visits new year, we have arranged a 2 course Carvery lunch at the Calf’s Head Country House Hotel Worseton, Clitheroe.

We will first visit Shackleton’s Garden Nursery. It’s a well stocked garden centre and hopefully, give us some spring inspiration!! They have a warm and welcoming cafe which you can have a morning coffee/tea if you wish.

Later, we will go to the Calf’s Head Country house Hotel for our Carvery Lunch with a choice of two or three roast meats and a selection of delightful desserts. Then to finish tea/coffee (included in the meal)

Dorothy Clive Garden & Bridgemere

A visit to Dorothy Clive Garden on Wednesday, 19th September 2018,  set amidst glorious countryside where the borders of Staffordshire,Cheshire and Shropshire intersect, this beautiful 12 acre garden has evolved since 1940 when Colonel Harry Clive began landscaping a disused Victorian quarry for his wife Dorothy. Visitors to the garden will discover the great the variety of form and colour and the fine views of the surrounding countryside. Plant enthusiasts will find many unusual species.  There is a tearoom offering home baking and light lunches.

We will first visit Bridgemere Garden Centre Britian’s largest garden centre, selling a huge range of top-quality plants and garden products. You can explore the six acre award-winning gardens. There is a garden kitchen cafe with refreshments which will delight !! with tasty light bites, sweet treats and the finest of coffee/tea.  This should be an enjoyable day out.

Garden Visits – Lyme Park (NT)

A visit to Lyme Park, owned by the National Trust has been arranged for  Thursday 23rd August 2018.  Lyme Park is a glorious house nestling on the edge of the Peak District surrounding by gardens and deer park. The 1,400 acre estate has a medieval herd of red deer and offers fantastic walks and stunning views. Visit the rose garden, ravine garden and luxurious herbaceous borders next to the reflecting lake where Mr Darcey met Miss Bennet in the BBC production of “Pride and Prejudice” .

Our first stop is Brookside Garden Centre where we will have time for morning refreshments etc.   Lyme Park has a timber yard cafe and restaurant which offers hot & cold snacks, soups and most importantly, a range of cakes !!

Garden visits – RHS Tatton

We have arranged a trip to the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park Knutsford on  Friday, 20th July 2018.  This should be an interesting and exciting show for all garden lovers with many award winning plants etc.  Set in the magnificent parklands of Tatton Park in Cheshire, the show is a spectacular day out. Featuring innovative show gardens, floral marquee, talks, demonstrations, advise, trade stands and exhibitions, all wrapped up in vibrant carnival atmosphere.  The cost of the trip will be £34 –  this includes coach and entrance.

Garden visits – Abbeywood

We will visit Nantwich, a lovely market town in Cheshire,on Wednesday, 27th June 2018 We will have time for a tea/coffee break and maybe some shopping if wish.
We will then travel a short distance to Abbeywood Gardens, which has stunning views of the Utkinton hills.  Abbeywood is a 6 acre garden consisting of informal and formal gardens, all different in their own right. There is a 2 km wildlife walk, 7 acre arboretum with rare deciduous and evergreen tree species.

Included in the £20 cost of this trip is a cream tea.

Garden visits – Bodnant

A garden visit to Bodnant Garden National Trust has been arranged for Wednesday 16th May 2018.  Born in the gentle hills east of the River Conwy, the garden’s beauty is complemented by the stunning, panoramic views across the river to the Mountains of Snowdonia and the perfect place for a wonderful and enjoyable day out for everyone. The garden’s beauty is stunning with rhododendrons, magnolias, camellias and azaleas. The Garden’s most  famous feature is the stunning, yellow cascade of the Laburnum Arch – hoping it’s flowering for our visit.  There is also a cafe and gift shop.

We will first stop at Tweedmill for time to look around and maybe for morning coffee.
