Stramblers 2 – New Brighton to Hoylake – 21st March 2024
Twelve members of the group headed for New Brighton by train this morning to commence the walk along the coastal path to Hoylake.
This month’s walk was originally intended to be in the Westhead/Lathom area but the amount of rain we have had recently meant that some parts of the paths were very muddy which would have made walking quite difficult. The decision was therefore taken to defer the walk until later in the year when, hopefully, the mud will be less of a problem. Instead we decided to walk from New Brighton to Hoylake on what we knew were reasonable paths with an absence of mud.
We walked from the station down to the promenade. Unfortunately, despite the weather forecast indicating there would not be any rain, the first two miles of the walk were in the rain, which was quite miserable.
Once the rain stopped the conditions could be described as “good walking weather”.
On arrival in Hoylake we visited “Hoylake Lights”, a Weatherspoon’s establishment, where we enjoyed lunch before returning by train.
All agreed they had enjoyed this seven mile walk and are looking forward to our next walk which will be from West Kirby to Hilbre Island on April 18th.
