I have just been contacted by John Makinson of Discovery Travel , approx.1.00pm today
He advised me that EasyJet have cancelled the flights that were booked to take us to and return us from Sardinia
At present , there is no other option to proceed with the proposed tour this year.
DT are looking at options for 2022 , however if a member does not wish to continue , flight costs will be recoverable from EasyJet via DT
Some aspects of the deposits have been expended in Sicily and therefore that aspect of the deposit refund is in doubt.
Members are requested to identify whether they want to consider 2022 or seek partial refund.
First of all , a happy new year to all U3A members “keep safe , follow the guidelines and we all might get through this”
Hopefully , we will all be vaccinated by the time we are due to travel to Sardinia in October.
Just a reminder about the the EHIC health card.
If your card is due to run out before October you will need to get a “GHIC” card which is to be issued by the British Government
If you go on the website “www.gov.uk”” you can find and fill out the necessary form to request a new card
George and Moe
Ps Please note that you will require to have at least 6 months left on your passport , I would suggest you have 9 months
I have emailed members with regard to the current position of the proposed wine tour commencing 03/10/2020
I have received a number of emails from members with varying comments
I do not want to get into providing answers/comments to each of these emails
Therefore , I will await any other comments for a few days , analyse the comments and then advise Discovery Travel of my findings
Please refer to the postings if you require any further update or telephone me
To all our regular attendees and U3A members , Moe , John and I wish that you stay safe and we look forward to meeting up with you all once we have got rid of this virus.
Take notice of all the guidelines that have been issued and comply with them rigorously
George , Moe and John
