Just a little message but with a big meaning to all our Members. Another year has passed and it has been so nice to meet you all on Tuesday Coffee Mornings and on our Day Trips throughout this year. Thank you to all who have supported our trips, our “longstanding members” and a lot of new members too. Look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 10th January 2023. In the meantime, wishing you, and yours, a very Happy Christmas and a Happy HEALTHY 2023. Best wishes –  Marj

Day Trips 2 Tickets

Due to cancellation two tickets are available for the Neil Sands Christmas Show, which is currently touring the country, at Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Brighton. on Wed.23rd November. In the morning we will visit the family owned Carr Farm Garden Centre, Meols. They have a wide selection of goods, plenty of choice. Nice Cafe. Then onto New Brighton to sit back in your stall seat, relax and enjoy the show. Visit our table on Tuesday morning or ring 07799344060. Price £27 includes stall seat and coach. Two New Day Trips

   Day Trip 1.                 Starting our day with a visit to the family owned Carr Farm Garden Centre Meols . There is a big selection of goods which might encourage us to start looking for stocking fillers. Nice Cafe as well. Then we are off to the popular Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Brighton,  for a Christmassy afternoon of entertainment.. Sit back, relax, enjoy all the songs we know. Lovely costumes, even real snow.(could only get 35 tickets)

When? Wednesday 23rd November.  Dep.9.30am  Ret.6pm. Price: £27 inc.stall seats.  Seats will be on sale at our table on Tues.4th October. Payment in full would be appreciated.

Day Trip 2                   Arrive in the ancient City of Chester.  Lots to see/do. The Christmas Market is on, plenty of shops for browsing, cafes for morning coffee not forgetting the Cathedral which has its’ annual Christmas Tree exhibition on display, all in aid of charity. If you are looking for charity Christmas cards they have a big selection. Then we will be going to the Celtic Arms, Northop Country Park Golf Club for our delicious Festive Lunch.  This is a lovely venue with a good reputation for their food. We can sit down, relax and enjoy our meal and the company.

When? Wednesday 7th December.  Dep. 9.15am  Ret.6pm.  Price: £38 inc.Festive Lunch. Seats will be on sale at our table on Tuesday 4th October. Payment in full would be appreciated. NB.Please ask for choice of meal slip.

Beautiful yorkshire dales –

On Wednesday 26th October we will travel to the pretty, popular village of Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. Time to have coffee and  a browse round. Then we are off to Leyburn, to the home of family owned Tennants Auctioneers one of the largest Auction Houses in Europe. Here we will have a 2 course lunch followed by tea / coffee and a guided tour etc. behind the scenes. For full details click on Day Trips.

Beautiful yorkshire dales

We will start our day heading for Grassington, one of the best loved villages in the Yorkshire Dales.  There is a good choice for coffee shops, lovely individual shops and it has frequently been used by film makers, most recently for the new Railway Children and it is Darraby in Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small. You will enjoy the quaintness and the lovely surrounding scenery, which by now should be in all its’ Autumnal glory.  Then we are off to Leyburn, home of Tennants Auctioneers, one of the largest family owned Auction Houses in Europe.  They hold regular auctions throughout the year, handling millions of pounds.  Here we will have a 2 course lunch followed by tea/coffee. Then we are going behind the scenes for a guided tour and talk, a short film etc.

New Day Trip

We will start our trip today by crossing the Menai Straits onto the Isle of Anglesey. Our first visit will be to the popular seaside resort of Beaumaris which together with all its’ attractions makes it an extremely popular destination.  With its’ mix of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture and its’ great unfinished masterpiece, Beaumaris Castle, parts of which date back to 1294, it is a lovely place to visit.  Stroll through the town, walk along the front and along the pier, admiring the wonderful views across the Straits to Snowdonia. There is a Gaol and a Courthouse you may like to visit. Good selection of shops, tea rooms etc.  Then we will cross back to the mainland to Bangor to visit the fantasy neo Norman Penrhyn Castle. Originally built by Lord Penrhyn and now owned by the National Trust, it is built on the fortunes made from the Jamaican Slave Trade and the nearby slate Quarries. Interesting interior, lovely gardens, a small railway museum highlighting the work done by the railway in the slate quarries. No expense was spared when building and designing the interior. Plenty of picnic sites and nice Cafe. For the more energetic some nice walks.
