Day Trips – Our driver Phil

Our Driver Phil is sadly retiring.  He has driven us all over the place during the past few years.  I can’t begin to count how many miles we have travelled safely with him.  Throughout all our trips he has been unfailingly kind, courteous, helpful and above all a safe driver (although he has got us lost a couple of times!!) We would like to make a contribution to him as a token of our thanks and if you would like to donate, then please visit the Day Trip’s table where there is an envelope and a card to sign, or contribute on our next day trip (19th Oct.) which will be his last trip.  I’m sure we would all like to wish him a very happy, healthy retirement.  Maybe he’ll join the U3A.!!  Many thanks   Marj

We boarded our coach and set off at 9.15am on Wednesday with a very overcast sky.  We were pleased that our favourite driver – Phil was behind the wheel. As we progressed into Wales the sun came out and the rest of the day was glorious, all adding to a great time.  We travelled via the Horseshoe Pass and enjoyed some glorious views. We arrived at Llangollen and had time to enjoy a good wander, discussing which of the great eateries we would use.  The venue chosen was excellent owned by a chap who was Italian/Irish/English and he offered us very tasty food.   Continue reading

‘End of term’ – Early Stage French

Thurs.5th July and it’s our final morning before the summer break.  It was held at Marie’s, our Group Leader’s house.  We all gathered together – but no easy day for us! Marie had worked as hard as ever to challenge us and we all had to “get translating”  A pleasant morning with good company, our group is really special.  We had  lovely cream cakes and Tony (Snape that is) did us proud with a beautiful home made ginger cake – delicious!  As a group we thanked Marie most sincerely for all her hard work and for creating such a lovely working atmosphere.  Will see you in September – maybe we will all have done some homework??? Have a great summer.
