Join us for a showing of ‘A Complete Unknown’ at the Plaza Cinema Crosby on the 28th January 2025. The story covers the life of the 19 year old Bob Dylan as he arrives in New York.

Doors open at 12:15 pm with the film starting at 13:00. Free for the over sixties but donations are always welcome.

We got our dates mixed up in the previous post. Hopefully this better.

A small turnout for ‘3 lines of coke’ but it seemed to be well received. Hopefully folk know a lot more about Pepsi cola, coal coke  and crystal meth 🙂

Our next topic will be the history of Thalidomide on Wed 22 Jan.

March 12th we will be looking at ‘glass making’ with John. We are proposing a visit to the world of glass museum in St. Helens on Wednesday March 26th. New Day Trip 2025

Our first trip for 2025 is a visit to the very famous Bury Market. People travel from all over to browse, and purchase, just about everything from fresh produce from local suppliers to clothes, cards etc and not forgetting the famous Bury Black Puddings. Plenty of morning coffee opportunities to keep you refreshed. Then we will be off to the Pack Horse Inn, Attentside, which is a small village near Bury set on the original Turnpike Road. Built originally in l443, it is now a busy cosy Pub with a good reputation for food and its’ selection of Craft Ales. Here we will have a 3 course lunch served in their Conservatory  followed by tea/coffee.

WHEN? Wednesday 12th March 2025. Dep. 9.15am Ret 5ish . Seats are on sale. Price: £27per person includes 3 Course Lunch. Tea/Coffee.(the menu is changed on a regular basis and choice of meal slips will be available when the next change is made in February)

Ramblers take a Winter wander

Not foiled by the Winter weather, 11 members of the Rambling Group had a local walk today despite the freezing ice and snow. The planned route was altered at the last minute due to the vagaries of Merseyrail, so we jumped in cars up to Aughton and undertook a somewhat shortened walk following part of the Yellowhammer route, up to the top of Clieves Hill and back across country to the start point. Wine Tasting 30/01/2025 Winetime at Scatchards

Many members visited the Wine Tasting desk this morning and paid the required fee (£12 for the tasting and , if required , £10 for the return taxi transfer).

Several members indicated their attendance when present at the Christmas lunch who have still to pay , can these members if still wanting a place please forward a cheque to George or visit the Wine Tasting desk and pay the relevant amount
