Here you see the results of 12 of our art Appreciation group members visit to Eden Galleries, Newburgh on Saturday 22nd April.
An enjoyable, relaxing morning in a great venue followed by tasty lunch in the cafe upstairs. If you have never been to Eden Galleries now is the time as a Strawberry exhibition is in full swing.

Our Van Gogh immersive experience on May 19th has to be extra £4 due to so many unexpected cancellations due to illness and increased coach cost.
We will still need to give a donation to St Michael le Belfry Church..

at the weekly coffee morning on Tuesday 2nd May.

12 members of the Technology and Science group visited the Scottish Power control centre in Prenton last Wednesday. We were given a most excellent presentation by Jon and Sue that covered topics including the generation, power distribution networks, outages and call centre activity.
We were then shown around the ‘control room’ and given a close display of the Maghull area network by Kevin, who fielded all our questions.
We finished with Sue and a Q+A session regarding outages and their effects.
Thanks to all the staff and to Bill for organising the day.
We hope to visit a local factory in Knowsley in early June so watch this space.
Visiting the ‘great pottery throw down‘ venue, the Gladstone Pottery in Stoke on Trent. Can’t promise to meet the latest talented potters or their work but we are assured of a good visit.

A new theatre to us, ‘The Brindley Studio‘ in Runcorn, is
presenting ‘Allo Allo‘ on Friday 15th September at 7.30 pm

Free entry to all, this lovely little art gallery has really done itself proud, with artists from across the area and age range. Well worth a visit.

We will start our day with a visit to the affluent and attractive Town of Wilmslow in 
Cheshire. Part of the Golden Triangle & home to some of our footballers. Browse the boutiques and shops. Look out for designer bargains in the Charity Shops. Time for coffee. Then we are off to Quarry Bank Mill, once owned by the Greg Family. Discover what it was like to work in a busy Cotton Mill and take a guided tour of the Apprentice House where the child pauper workers lived. Discover how it compares to the lavish home of the
Greg family. There are lovely gardens and a visit to Styal Village shows how other workers lived. Styal is still a thriving community. For the more energetic there are lovely walks along the River Bollin. With a choice of 3 places to eat and a shop to browse, it is an interesting place to visit.
