A day trip to RHS Brdgewater garden on Wednesday,13th September 2023. The former site of Worsely New Hall in Salford, a heritage landscape thats been transformed into a iconic RHS garden. Bridgewater is the 5th garden and one of the largest and most gardening project undertaken in Europe.
Landscape architect, Tom Stuart-Smith created the masterplan and fantastic Bridgewater team, alongside award winning garden designers have brought the garden to life. Bridgewater also has a cafe overlooking Victoria Meadow and offers seasonal food hot & cold and tea/coffee.
We will first visit Fryers garden centre in Knutsford, renowned for its extensive range of indoor and outdoor plants, home of beautiful roses. They also have a cafe offering tasty food and tea/coffee. The cost of trip £21 – payable by cheque preferably. This should be an interesting & enjoyable day out.
Depart Maghull Square – 9.15am. Return Maghull Square. – 5.30 approx

The minibus will leave Maghull Square at 9.45. This will allow free time in Manchester for the Christmas Market, shopping, museums and lunch before the afternoon performance.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the delay in posting your pictures. We have had Internet problems for two weeks. Glad to say everything is now back to normal.

15 members (group 1) will make a visit for a guided tour of the Old Dock at 10.30am 30 members (groups 1 and 2)to have a guided tour of Western Approaches at 12.30 15 members (group 2) will make a visit for a guided tour of the Old Dock at 2.30pm
The above is necessary as the Old Dock cannot take all 30 members in one visit
Members to make there own way to either event depending on which group they are in

There were only 7 walkers for Thursdays ramble around the Crook o’ Lune led by Ann & Peter. The weather was perfect for walking with stunning views as far as the Ingleborough Fells. It started with a nice gentle climb to Far Highfield farm and then down to the river Lune via Aughton (no we were not that lost!). Leaving the village, we headed down to the river but not before hacking our way through a 20yd stretch of overgrown path full of nettles – well, four of us did. Continue reading
