Aigburth to Sefton Park 16/03/25

We took the train to Aigburth for today’s walk and set off down Mersey Road. Towards its end, we turned onto a path through a small wood. This led to the grass bank above the prom. We followed the prom for a short stretch then entered Otterspool Park. We meandered through the woods before passing under the railway bridge and left the Park at Jericho Lane. The subway under Aigburth Road took us to Sefton Park where the Field of Hope daffodils have begun to flower. We walked through the fields, with a million daffs on display, and made our way to the Palm House (see Brenda’s earlier post with its history) and had a refreshment break there. After our drinks, we left the park at the bustling Lark Lane and crossed Aigburth Road to St Michaels Station for the train home.

Thanks to Brenda for a lovely walk. See you all next time.

Volunteers Needed

YOUR U3A NEEDS YOU!!

We are on the lookout for people who love to bake – in particular who like to bake fairy cakes!   Expert cooks or gifted amateurs we don’t mind as long as you can work out how to make buttercream icing and soft sponge mix.

If we’ve piqued your interest and you want to know what’s up, just use the reply button at the bottom of this notice and we’ll be in touch.

We’re also looking for members who own a two-tiered cake stand (we’d like to avoid paper/card ones) as we’re going to need somewhere to display our cake collection!

I know – the plot thickens, but that makes it so much fun!!

Walking for Woodlands

18 walkers from Maghull and Lydiate u3a took part in the Light up the Night event for Woodlands Hospice .  As you can see from the photos we really got into the spirit of it.  Up to now, without taking into account Gift Aid,  we have raised at least £2300.

Woodlands recently looked after Sylvia and Pauline and in the past Ian and Diana, who were all members of our u3a walking groups .

We would like to thank the people who supported us, this helped us raise such an amazing amount of money .

Woodlands have told us we have achieved the largest donation for this event .
Well done everyone.
