We are off to the lovely town of Shrewsbury. Full of character and interest. Plenty to see/do. Set on the beautiful River Severn. There is a big choice of Shops, Museums, Coffe/Cake venues, Ancient Pubs, Castle, Quarry Gardens, Riverside walks etc. Something for everyone. Probably its’ most famous son is Charles Darwin. THEN we will board the Sabrina Boat at Victoria Quay  for a leisurely cruise along the River Severn. A guided commentary is provided plus tea/coffee/biscuits. After  disembarking we will rejoin our coach for a guided tour of Shrewsbury. Our Guide will be Martin who has been Shrewsbury’s Town Crier for many years and at 7ft 2″ is the tallest Town Crier in the world. He will be in his full regalia. Sit back and enjoy.

Back by popular request   A visit to Lytham’s 40’s weekend. This year marks the 80th anniversaries of both VE and VJ Day (which falls on 15.8.25). There’s plenty to do/see. Large licensed Marquee on Lytham Green where entertainment is held including tributes to George Formby, Vera Lynn etc.etc. authentic military vehicles, re-enactments, vintage clothing, interesting stalls, dancing in Clifton Square  (practice your jitterbug) Representatives of St.John’s Ambulance and all the other organisations who all played their important part and, of course, Winston will be there, leading the full military parade. Don’t forget to visit the main shopping street with its’ selection of individually owned shops, many of them dressed for the occasion. Good choice for coffee, lunch etc. The Windmill on the Green will be open and the Heritage Centre. So why not join in the fun. Dress for the occasion. You will see some lovely 40’s outfits and fine military uniforms.

JUST A REMINDER – Our Coach will be departing at 9.15am, from Maghull Square on Wed.11th June for Llangollen and Chirk Castle. . NB National Trust Members  please remember to bring your membership card.

We will start our day in the lovely West Yorkshire town of Settle. The Flower Pot Festival is on and we can spend a fun morning spotting the exhibits (who would think so much could be done with plastic flower pots). It’s an Interesting town to explore, lots of side streets/alleys to investigate. Good choice of coffee/cake shops. Just a short walk is Watershed Mill, an interesting outlet to visit with a wide variety of goods. Settle Station is on the famous Settle/Carlisle line and also has a nice cafe. THEN we are off to Skipton, Gateway to the Dales. We will enjoy a fish/chip lunch (option available) followed by ice cream, tea/coffee in the award winning famous Bizzie Lizzies. Set by the Canal Basin, where all the canal boats depart from. Lots to see/do here and the famous market with plenty of bargains is on. For the energetic try Skipton Woods  by the Castle, which overlooks the main street,  for a walk.

Our day will start in the lovely, ever popular town of Llangollen. Take your time to stroll round the busy High Street.  Plenty of individually owned shops with an amazing array of Crafts and local produce including delicious Welsh Cakes. Stroll along the banks of the River Dee. Take the ancient bridge across the Dee in the centre of the town and you will see The Wharf. Here is where the horse drawn boats and a nice Tea Rooms can be found. Access is so much easier now with the newly installed steps. Good choice of coffee shops for morning coffee/cake and perhaps some lunch THEN we are off to Chirk Castle, owned and run by the National Trust. The Castle has stood here for Centuries and has a fascinating history.  Amazing views and plenty of interest. There are no guided tours available but plenty of volunteers to answer all your questions. You may prefer to have your lunch here.

On checking my Day Trip bookings I have noticed there are a couple of members who have not yet renewed their membership.
