Here’s a chance to do what you would like to do in the beautiful Lake District. Daffodils will be out to be admired and we will start our day in Grasmere one of the prettiest villages in the area. Here you will find Wordsworth’s home and Museum at Dove Cottage, the famous Gingerbread Shop where the recipe is a closely guarded secret, St.Oswald’s Church where Wordsworth and his family are buried, there is a Daffodil Remembrance Garden here as well. The Heaton Art Gallery, shops, amazing choice of coffee/eating places. For the energetic there is a walk round Grasmere Lake where you will come to Allan Bank, another Wordsworth home (NT Members free admission) or a stroll along the banks of the River Rothay. THEN we are off to the lovely Lakes town of Ambleside. Visit Waterhead Jetty where the Lake cruisers leave, get the electric milk float bus into town, view the tiny House over the Bridge, shops, cafes and if you feel energetic it’s just a short walk to Stock Ghyll Waterfall falling 70ft. It’s our first 2026 trip and we are off to Boundary Mill in Colne, Lancashire. This is a large, very popular Designer Outlet selling just about anything you want or need from Ladies/Gents fashions, travel accessories, an M and S outlet etc.etc. all at competitive prices. Easter is coming up so maybe treat yourself. There are 4 places to choose from to eat all providing coffee, food, Banny’s their fish n chips cafe plus an Ice Cream venue. THEN we are off to Farmhouse Biscuits Factory Shop an Outlet for their factory which is close by. It’s family owned and they started off as Farmers making biscuits in their kitchen which they expanded to selling on  local markets and look at them today. The biscuits are still hand finished. There is a wide range of competitively priced delicious biscuits (sweet and savoury), some in gift presentation packs.  Sugar/Gluten free are available as are vegan. They have promised tasters for us.

Yes a lot of thank yous are due to everyone who has supported Day Trips and our Festive Break in  2025, to my “new” Assistants, my photocopying fairy, our photographers who take some amazing, memorable photos and at our Christmas Lunch  to Derek who  gifted our Santa hats and frightened us as The Grinch, Phil who serenaded us and to all who gave generously to our Woodlands collection in memory of an absent friend (£150) If I haven’t mentioned you thank you as well.  Here’s to 2026.
