Here you will find Wordsworth’s home and Museum at Dove Cottage, the famous Gingerbread Shop where the recipe is a closely guarded secret, St.Oswald’s Church where Wordsworth and his family are buried, there is a Daffodil Remembrance Garden here as well. The Heaton Art Gallery, shops, amazing choice of coffee/eating places. For the energetic there is a walk round Grasmere Lake where you will come to Allan Bank, another Wordsworth home (NT Members free admission) or a stroll along the banks of the River Rothay. THEN we are off to the lovely Lakes town of Ambleside. Visit Waterhead Jetty where the Lake cruisers leave, get the electric milk float bus into town, view the tiny House over the Bridge, shops, cafes and if you feel energetic it’s just a short walk to Stock Ghyll Waterfall falling 70ft.
