Dear Secretary,
I am writing to you in two capacities.
As the pianist for the last 22 years with the internationally renowned Mart Rodger Manchester Jazz, former Artistic Director of Stockport Operatic Society, and now it’s President, I deliver a talk – New Orleans to New York – on the common ground between Jazz and Musical Theatre. I illustrate the talk by bringing my electric piano and playing pieces from musical theatre in a jazz style and tell many amusing stories from both genres
I would be keen to offer myself as a guest speaker and would appreciate being put in touch with your speaker secretary accordingly. Distance is not an issue as I regard these talks as a means of promoting the music I love and making people happy listening to it. I would be perfectly content with whatever you normally pay by way of expenses
Also, I would like your group to consider bringing a party to watch the Stockport Operatic Society production of “Oklahoma” on the last week of October 2017 at the beautifully restored and maintained art deco Plaza Theatre in the heart of Stockport town Centre
The society has built a reputation as one of the foremost performers of the major Broadway hit musicals in the North West with a hatful of nominations and major awards every year
The show will be accompanied by a 16 piece professional orchestra, stunning costumes and scenery and the pick of amateur actors, singers and dancers from the region.
Prices start from £15 with discounts and free seats for block bookings
We are performing Oklahoma nightly from Tuesday 24th October to Saturday 28th with a very popular Saturday matinee thrown in. This magnificent theatre holds 1200 people and early indications are that we have a chance of selling out several performances. Other groups, who came to our 2016 production, Gershwin’s “Crazy For You”, have already booked for Oklahoma. We would love you to join them
I would like the opportunity to discuss this with you or whoever the appropriate parties may be. We would love to welcome Maghull and Lydiate U3A to our beautiful theatre
Many thanks
