Foodie Group

Bodnant Welsh Food Centre and Maenan Abbey -Thursday 26th May.

Continuing our British theme, 19 group members and friends visited the Food Centre. This comprises a cafe, restaurant, cookery school, bakery, delicatessen, wine cellar, butchery and diary. The food on offer was predominately  locally sourced, with over 50% of product made on site and 85% sourced from Wales, all of the the highest standard.

The building itself was beautiful and there is even 5* farmhouse accommodation available. Many of us enjoyed tea and cake in the cafe and made purchases for later consumption!
Time for lunch and on to Maenan Abbey, a Country House Hotel built in 1851. We had pre_ordered lunch from an extensive selection and had our own beautifully dressed room to enjoy it in.

As the wine and conversation flowed we enjoyed the dishes we had chosen from Smoked Breast of Duck with Caramelised Chutney to Herb Crusted Rump of Lamb, followed by desserts and coffee. A big thank you must go to Fay for organising such a delightful and informative day out
