Foodie Group take to the waterways

13 members of the Foodie Group took a 2 hour trip on the local barge ” Pride Of Sefton ” last week. We were blessed with glorious weather which added to the ambience of the day. Setting off from the mooring at Halsall , the barge cruised along the Leeds Liverpool Canal, as far as Scarisbrick Marina , then returned at a leisurely pace to the departure point.

On route the foodie group members enjoyed a lunch consisting of savoury and sweet delights all prepared by group members. This was washed down by a variety of liquids…not all alcoholic….after which we set to the washing up in order to leave the barge in the condition we found it.

It’s safe to say that the trip was thoroughly enjoyable, and we left the barge replete!

Many thanks to Brenda and Margaret (Ashton) who organised the trip.

The next foodie group meeting is Thursday 21st April, 10:30 am at the Red House, Foxhouse Lane. The group is open to new members…please contact leaders as per the newsletter for information about the group.
