NORDIC WALKING

P7010571NEW WALKING GROUP LEADER

Congratulations to John McKenzie, our latest Walking Group Leader.  John recently attended a training course, provided by Sefton Active Walks, on Tuesday, 24th March 2015, when he qualified as a Walking Group Leader. This means we now have three trained leaders who can lead our Monday walks.  John will be leading his first walk this Monday.

5k BUNNY RUN

On Sunday, 29th March 2015, together with Brenda McKenzie, we completed the OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWoodlands Hospice Sponsored 5k Bunny Run, through the beautiful grounds of Croxteth Hall Country Park, in aid of Woodlands Hospice. We completed the run, at a brisk walking pace, using our Nordic walking poles.  The weather was not good, as it was raining all morning and some of the course was very muddy.  Whilst this challenge was neither a U3A or a Sefton Active Walks event, we decided to take up the challenge in memory of former U3A member Diana Young, one of our best Nordic walkers, who sadly passed away at Woodlands Hospice earlier this year.  We have so far raised over £200 in sponsorship.  All proceeds will go to the Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust.  Brenda and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who sponsored us for this event.

Happy Nordic Walking,

Ian
