BODNANT GARDEN AND TWEEDMILL

A garden visit to Bodnant Garden National Trust has been arranged for

Wednesday,15th June 2022. Set in the gentle hills east of the River Conwy, across the river to the Mountains of Snowdonia.  Undoubtedly, Bodnant Gardens looks spectacular throughout the year. They have a National collection of Asian magnolias and rhododendrons, some more than a century old. The gardens most famous feature is the stunning, yellow cascade of the Lamburnum Arch – hoping it’s still flowering for our visit. Bodnant Garden is the perfect place for a wonderful and enjoyable day out for everyone.  There is a tearoom and gift shop..

We will first stop at Tweed Mill, St Asaph for time to look around and maybe for morning tea/coffee.  Cost of trip      Non National Trust members  –  £25

National Trust Members          –  £13

Depart Maghull Square – 8.45am.    Return Maghull Square  –  6pm approx

A4F – Powys 18/05

I have had discussions with the Ranger Station catering staff and have been advised that the following food and beverages will be available for members to purchase.

Burgers, Hot Dogs, Sandwiches, Baked Potatoes, Soup, Cakes, Tea/Coffee and cold drinks (no alcoholic drinks)

It may be that members may wish to take there own food to consume at the Ranger Station (there are outside tables) , members can then purchase tea/coffee etc from the cafe

Lytham – August 17th

We hope to visit  the beautiful Byzantine church, Lytham Fairhaven U.R.C, in the morning.

We are to have a tour of Lytham Hall after lunch at the nice café on site  and a roam around the grounds to view the posters which are rather large and outdoors.

Shifting Sands, by Nicky Thomson, is an art trail set within the grounds of Lytham Hall. It’s a collection of 12  new works celebrating the art of the travel poster, which has strong historical links to the Fylde – the coming of the railway heralded the start of tourism for the Fylde.

Coach from Maghull Square 9.30 am.  Cost £27

Line dancing in Kirkby

On Saturday 14t May we did a line dancing display at Littledale Festival, Towerhill, Kirkby. This was the eleventh year of this popular festival and during the afternoon our ‘line dancers’ did the u3a proud with a set of 3 dances culminating in an easy dance lesson, as the audience joined in, which was great fun.
We ended to rapturous applause and thanks from the audience and performers.
Many thanks to all – Hilary
