Welcome to our first new Day Trip of 2024.  We will start our day with a visit to BBC Radio Lancashire Blackburn.  Set in the Town Centre in close proximity to one of the Country’s newest Cathedrals, Shopping and plenty of Coffee Shops to spoil you for choice.  We will have an opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how a busy local radio performs and gathers their news, information etc. There is also a short talk by one of their well known presenters. Then we will be off to the comfortable Astley Bank Hotel, set in its’ own lovely grounds. We will have a soup/buffet lunch followed by tea/coffee.

WHEN?? Wednesday 20th March. Depart 8.45am  Ret.5ish. Price: £30 inc. buffet lunch. Seats will be on sale at our table on Tues.30th January 2024. Seats are restricted to 35 limited by size of venue

Well all 46 of us are back. What a week. We had everything. Nice comfortable hotel, good food, lovely staff, excellent company and the weather! What can we say about the weather? You could take your pick from sunshine, blue skies, warm and then we went downhill slightly. Fantastic sky formations of black and even blacker, squally showers and amazing seascapes of crashing rolling waves. We did a whole lot better than some parts of the country though. Did it deter us? No! Our excursions were good. Cardiff is a beautiful City with the Castle right in the City Centre, we partied at night and a good time was had by all.  We even braved Friday’s M6!

St.Helens Glass Museum have now sent their itinerary, for our visit, which commences at 10.30am. We can therefore depart at the later time of 9.45am. 

Well here it is Christmas Lunch time! Where has the year gone? Starting our day at the Trafford Centre which has a world renowned reputation for shopping, dining etc. Marks & Spencer is opening a brand new store here late November so we will be some of the early visitors. Plenty of interest and a chance to get those last minute Christmas presents and edible goodies.  Then we are off to the 4*Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford, an Edwardian Country house, set in 7 acres of grounds. Originally a wedding present but now converted into a luxury Hotel/Conference Centre.  Here we will have a 3 course Christmas Lunch, tea/coffee followed by an afternoon of entertainment. So we can sit back, relax and enjoy all the music we know.

St.Helens glass is famous all over the world (think Pilkingtons). Dedicated to this world famous town and its’ products, is The World of Glass Museum, which has just undergone a l million pound refurbishment and is now ready to invite visitors to return and see the result.  We will have tea/coffee on arrival and then a guided tour of the property to see all the interesting parts and products of this Museum.  We will also have a glass blowing demonstration which will be followed by lunch.  We will then visit the family owned Garden Centre, Whittakers in Prescot, which has been purpose built and was opened in April of this year. Lots of products to browse and with its’ Christmas Decorations displays, should prompt us to think about buying presents and stocking fillers. In addition, there is the Palm Court Cafe where you can have tea/coffee/cakes
