Our day starts with a visit to the City of Wakefield.  Plenty of interest here including the Barbara Hepworth Art and Sculpture Museum. Lots of coffee shops and places to eat.  You can lunch here or take a picnic to Nostell Priory which has some lovely areas to eat. We also have the option of a guided tour of the beautiful Cathedral.  Then we are off to the National Trust owned Nostell Priory.  A splendid Palladian Mansion built with the fortunes made by the Winn Family from the Textile Industry in London. Full of Robert Adam and Chippendale influence. This beautiful house is full of treasures which includes a 300 year old doll’s house, which has been in the family for the duration, lovely gardens and for the more energetic there are interesting walks in the spacious grounds and by the lakes. There is also a cafe here.

Hello. Trust you all had a really nice Christmas with a good selection of nice pressies.  Well here it is New Year’s Eve again.! What lies ahead of us this year?  Can you believe it will be two years in February since this mayhem started? Let’s just hope it is now near to finishing.  Well our u3a recommences on the 11th January and hope to see you there for a chat and coffee (free)  In view of the ongoing uncertainty that we have at the moment with the Omicron version, Day Trips will not be organising any days out for the time being.  Normally, we resume our trips in February but this time it is looking like it will be March.  This is a sorry state of affairs I know and we will keep the situation  under review in case circumstances change for the more positive. In the meantime, we would like to wish you all  a very Happy, Peaceful and importantly a Healthy 2022.

Just a reminder that our Christmas Lunch is on :Wed.8th December 2021, Coach is  departing from The Square at 9.30am.  Because of our “new friend” Rules have changed sllghtly with regard to masks and other face coverings.  They must now be worn on the coach, in the Garden Centre and on arrival at the Hotel until you are seated.  We won’t let that spoil our day. Have you noticed that the new variant OMICRON B  is an anagram for NO CRIMBO!! LET,S HOPE NOT.  See you Wednesday.

Hello – well it was lovely to return  on Tuesday morning and  how nice it was to meet up again and chat with so many of you.  I will be organising a trip in November to Briars Hall, Lathom for an afternoon with a Christmas feel. I have booked a 3 course meal followed by tea/coffee, an afternoon of entertainment with something included that should appeal to us all.  So what better than to join us with a nice local venue, good food, and a relaxing afternoon in good company. It seems such a long time since we did just that.

WHEN?  Tuesday 23rd November 2021. Depart  ll.15am Return 4.30pm approx.(from and back to The Square) Price: £25 inc.meal/entertainment/transport. Holmewood Coaches (who we use for our day trips) have advised me of their code for travelling. It is quite straightforward.   The seat immediately behind the driver to be left empty.   Masks are by choice.    Hand sanitizers are available.   Details of any upcoming trips will be advertised in the Newsletter, online and at our Tuesday morning table. Look forward to seeing you all soon. 

  Well here we are 16th August 2021 and it’s looking like Freedom Day.  The good news is hopefully u3a Tuesday mornings will resume on the 7th September.  We hope to see you all there.  Full details of any trips organised will be advertised on  the web site, in the newsletter and at our table on Tuesday mornings.  Well, fingers crossed, we may be about to have some normality.
