The Architecture Group had a lovely visit today to Capesthorne Hall near Macclesfield. After viewing the outside of the imposing building, hearing a little of its history and the family who have lived there for hundreds of years, we were treated to an exclusive guided tour of the inside of the house. Usually only opened to the public on Sundays and Mondays, we had the place to ourselves. We toured the magnificent rooms on all floors and marvelled at the artefacts accumulated by the family over the years. The tour concluded with a visit to the family chapel which was a sight to behold. Following a lovely lunch we had time to wander through the well kept gardens and woodlands enjoying the last of the days of the current heatwave. Thanks to George for yet another interesting and very well organised day out.
