Writing for Pleasure

Today seven of us met to share our stories entitled “Yesterday”. The stories were of our usual high standard and varied greatly. We selected just one to share with you.

“Yesterday” by Judy McAdam
When I was five and we were asked in school what we would like to be when we grew up; I planned to tell the class I’d be a high wire trapeze artist. I had no idea what that would entail in fitness and pure daring; but it seemed at the time quite possible and a very exciting thing to be.
However, as each child told the teacher their ambitions, I began to wonder if I’d be laughed at when it was my turn. I think Doctors and nurses and possibly train drivers featured a lot that day,  but the class finished before I could get my turn.
What I remember though, is thinking I could and would do something amazing with my life
As time goes by however, things change and although I never reached those heights of fame or glamour;  just being alive today is something that thrills me.
What a privilege it is to just be here, to see the sights and sounds of nature and enjoy the company of family and friends.
Yesterday was fine, but today is better!
