Prescot Perambulations
The U3A Day Riders Group were once again blessed with excellent weather for our ride to Prescot via the cycle lanes of the Rainford by-pass and East Lancs Road. Our welcome brew-stop in the town was in a cafe / bakery that has been going for over 100 years. Once fortified with tea, coffee and tea cakes we set off once again for our return journey via Knowsley and Kirby, a round trip of 34 miles.
Next Monday’s ride will be to Ainsdale, starting from Old Racecourse Road, Maghull at 1000hrs.
Anderton to Marston
Eighteen walkers met at the Stanley Arms in Anderton, where we’d started and finished the last walk. As on that walk the staff let us use the facilities and order our meals before we set off. The weather didn’t look promising with grey skies, but the rain held off. We crossed Continue reading
Sunday Strollers Port Sunlight
18 members of the Sunday Strollers enjoyed a great walk and talk in Port Sunlight. David Scott made the day so interesting and it is great to have new members joining us.
We had a tea break in a great little cafe and finished the day in the new Wetherspoons opposite James Street. Everyone agreed the day had been a great success.
Our next walk is on 17th November. We are meeting at Southport Railway Station at 11 o clock. If you want to join this group please email Brenda McKenzie on mnmck21@aol.com who will add you to the email group. I will email final details nearer the time.
I am leading a Sefton Active walk on 10th November. We will be meeting at Hall Lane Lydiate at the side of St Mary’s Church which is opposite the Hayloft at 2.20 the walk will start at 2.30. The walk will be about 4.5 miles at a steady pace. More details can be found in the latest Active Sefton booklet or at the Group Supprt Desk from 5th November.

Pedal Pushers…full or half?

Having been rained off so many Wednesdays this year, the sun finally shone for the group. So 8 pedal pushers ( accompanied by 2 folk from Easy Riders) took advantage of the good weather and set out on the Sefton Circular route starting at Maghull. The ride across Jubilee Wood was not good due to the very uneven path, but we were soon through this obstacle course and having crossed Brooms Cross road, joined the canal bank at Netherton.
