Wiltshire Wine Tour 20th September 2026

Can members who have added their name to the trip list and have not yet completed a booking form please arrange to visit the Wine Tasting desk , complete a form and present a cheque in the sum of £75 made out to Airedale Tours

St Catherines Church 26/2/26

The itinerary for the above is as follows

11.45am members to arrive at the church site to pick up their “drinks voucher” , tea ,coffee , wine or beer ,there is a relief car park at the rear of the pub

12 noon David Russell to give a talk on the history of St Catherines Church

12.45pm members to move forward to the “canopied area” at the Scotch Piper where David Russell will give a talk on the history of the Scotch Piper

1.00pm Ken Hughes , a stonemason will give a talk on stonemasonry followed by a “hands on” workshop to carve some stone

1.45pm , members in groups of 10 will then visit the Scotch Piper bar and hand in there “drinks voucher” and obtain the relevant drink and find space in the pub

Architecture for Fun Wednesday 25th March

Arrangements are in hand to visit the BUXTON CRESCENT EXPERIENCE.  Set within the beautiful Grade 1 listed crescent building it consists of nine themed rooms that explore a period spanning 10,000 years. It covers the history of Buxton , the Crescent , Buxton Water and the people who have visited to take its cure and bathe in the thermal mineral water. We will take the PREMIUM GROUP TOUR which is an interactive tour including a virtual reality flight above the town during its Georgian heyday. We will rub  shoulders with the regency high society before having their ailments cured by an 18th century apothecary.  The tour ends following rainwater on a 5000 year journey through the Peak District before it emerges warm from the natural springs beneath the Crescent.

After the tour we will visit the Grade 11 listed Pump Room and see the sunken oval pool where the 5000 year old mineral water still rises from the ground , we will receive a souvenir glass bottle to “take the water” from the historic Lions Heads Well or St Ann’s Well to take home

This will be followed by AFTERNOON TEA at the PALACE HOTEL

Cost which includes luxury coach travel , tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival , the Premium Group Tour and Afternoon Tea is £47 , if Afternoon Tea is not required the cost will be £34.50

Arrangements are in hand to stay at the Best Western Leigh Park Hotel , Bradford on Avon for 5 nights with buffet breakfast and evening meals , there are10 double/twin rooms , 10 standard single occupancy rooms and 10 executive single occupancy rooms

For National Trust members the cost is £1225 (£1275) for a double/twin room , £1400 (£1450) for a standard singe occupancy room and £1500 (£1550) for an executive single occupancy room

For non National Trust members the cost is shown in brackets for each type of room

We will visit Stonehenge , Old Sarum , Longleat house and Tour , Royal Baths Bath , NT property and 3 wine tastings (to be agreed with Airedale)

Architecture for Fun 26th February at 12 noon

A visit to Lydiate Abbey where the history of the Abbey will be explained by David Russell followed by a talk on “Stonemasonry” by Ken Hughes , a local Stonemason, who will have several exhibits to show members

We will then move to the Scotch Piper where David Russell will explain the history of the pub and the area

We will then go inside the Scotch Piper to enjoy tea , coffee or a beer

Cost is £15 per member
