We will be visiting the Artisan Treacle Market held once a month in Macclesfield. Its’ origins go back centuries but was established in l988 in its’ current form. It is one of the largest markets in the North West with over 140 stalls. If you are looking for an early start to Christmas shopping you will surely find something here. There is just about everything from Crafts, local food and drink producers and lots lots more. There are street entertainers and plenty of choice of coffee shops, bars etc.  After we have exhausted the Market and its’ attractions we will be off to Leather’s Smithy , an ancient pub, set by Macclesfield Forest and overlooking a reservoir. It has a good reputation for good food, a big selection of real ales and hospitality. We will enjoy a 2 course Sunday Lunch followed by tea/coffee

Festive Break – Melrose – Trips News – 10th November

The following trips are to be organised for our short break

Day Trip Tues. this will be a full day visit to Edinburgh. We will have a guided tour on our coach lasting approx 1 hour. Then we will have time to visit this ancient Scottish City at our leisure. There is so much to see/do and a comprehensive list of where to go/what to do/costs will be provided in your itinerary. You will be spoilt for choice for coffee shops/eating places.

Day Trip Thurs. Today we will visit the Visitor Centre at Abbotsford House, which is the home of Sir Walter Scott. Our Hotel, Waverley Castle, which is named after probably his most famous novel Waverley, is on the edge of the Abbotsford Estate.  Time to investigate and for the energetic some lovely walks. We will then visit the interesting Chain Bridge Honey Farm near Berwick on Tweed. Plenty to see and they sell a range of honey and products produced on the Farm.  Then if time allows on to Eyemouth a busy traditional fishing village with an interesting harbour and an amazing memorial dedicated to a fishing boats tragedy in the 1800’s.
