Walking Group: Cheshire Waterways

13 members of the walking group had a great walk today, completing 10.5 miles along the banks of the Cheshire canal, the Weaver Navigation and the Trent and Mersey Canal. Setting off from the Anderton Boat Lift in Northwich we walked along canal banks and across meadows and were lucky as it was an ideal day for walking.

Warm and sunny with a gentle breeze, which made the day even more enjoyable. The canals were fairly busy  and we were treated to sight of some very splendid barges. Several families of newly hatched ducklings were also seen, but sadly too far away to photograph, plus a swan, well hidden by reeds, who was sitting on a clutch of 4 eggs. Following a brief stop for a snack we completed the circuit back to the Stanley Arms where a very hospitable landlord had our meals ready, along with some refreshments of various types and strengths! Thanks to Ken for both the recce and leading the walk. Next walks are 7th June, (long) Chester, Eccleston and the River Dee.  (short) Ince Blundell.
