T+S – Stone age Sefton

28 members attended the Wednesday afternoon meeting for a talk by Molly Toal, the Communications and Engagement Officer of the Lunt Meadows Nature Reserve, part of the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside.

A fascinating story and laptop presentation of the geography, history and archaeology of the Lunt Meadows ‘dig’ gave us a vivid insight into our local prehistory back over 9000 years.

Later this year we will be taking a guided tour of the ‘dig’ so watch this space for news. The presentation was ‘free’.  A donation of £50 has been made.

Our next meeting is Feb 9th with Colin discussing computer security.

15 of us went on a mystery walk this morning. Due to conditions the route had to be changed more than once. We ended up doing 4 miles from the station, along canal to Bells Lane and back. We were very lucky with the weather as it rained heavily about 30 minutes after we finished. We agreed we would all take a lateral flow test before walks in the future for the time being.

Great to be back – happy New Year to all who were unable to join us

Digital cameras – Open

Hi everyone, we had the last meeting of this year last Monday (13/12)
It’s been a challenging year at the U3A with the Covid and the lockdown.
Numbers attending groups have been down and some unfortunately had to close.

Pete and myself like to thank all members that attended the Camera club meetings this year. By doing so you are keeping the Digital Camera club running.

I know we all would like to thank Alban for keeping use refreshed with the tea, coffee and biscuits at the meetings… Thanks Alban.
Dates for next year…
The U3A Coffee Morning returns on the 11th January .
Digital Camera first  meeting 17th January.(see Dates and subjects below)
Happy Christmas and a Safe New Year
To you and your Love ones
From Pete, Phil, Alban and myself.
