Town Green Circular 18/05/25

The weather couldn’t have been better for today’s walk and we went two stops on the train to Town Green. A short walk took us to Aughton Village Hall and its grandly named, William Arnold Silcock Memorial Playing Field. We cut across the field and took a path through woods to a wooden footbridge. Over the bridge, the path narrowed and we came out on to Church Lane at St Michaels Church. We followed Church Lane to Bold Lane and the Holt Green Conservation Area. Along Brookfield Lane we met Brenda’a Daughter, Nicky and her Yorkshire Terrier, Chilli. Chilli made friends with everyone before continuing her own walk. We left the lane and crossed a field to pass under the Northern Line we’d travelled on earlier. Our route then meandered across fields, a small wood and more fields to emerge on to Mickering Lane. Just before the lane passed under the railway again, we took a path which parallelled it for a short way, then veered away through fields to come out on to Middlewood Road and back to the Station for the train home.

Thanks to Brian and Brenda for organising, recce-ing and leading the walk.
