Real Ale April/May Meet Ups

Please note our April meet up will be on 3rd May in Formby and Freshfield.  We will be catching the 1201 train from Maghull Station and will alight at Formby.  We will make our way (walk or circular bus) to The Lifeboat (Wetherspoons).  We can have lunch here and a couple of pints and then move on to the Freshfield and the Beer Station (next to Freshfield Station).  As usual if anyone is running late please call my mobile 07801656570 and find out where we are.  May’s Meet Up will be on Friday 31st, details to follow.  Cheers, Sue

March Real Ale Meet Up

Having travelled to St Helens on our February meet up (photos below), this month we will be staying a bit closer to home. On 22nd March will be visiting the Ship Inn and Kings Arms in Haskayne and then the Scotch Piper, Weld Blundell and finally finishing in Maghull Cask. We will catch the 300 bus which passes the Alt around 12 noon. I will be catching the 1207 by High Pastures and we will alight in Haskayne and walk the short distance to the Ship Inn where we can have lunch. We will aim to arrive at Maghull Cask for opening time at 4pm

 

 

February Real Ale Outing

On Friday 22nd February we will be having our Real Ale Meet Up in St Helens.  We will be catching the 1136 train from Lime Street Station.  If you would like to have a spot of breakfast first please meet around 1045 in the Wetherspoon’s North Western pub situated in Lime Street Station.

After alighting at St Helens Central we will make our way to the Cricketers calling in at the famous Birchall’s Pie Shop to buy supplies (bring a carrier bag as the juice gets everywhere!)

Real Ale January Meet Up

Firstly happy New Year to you all and let’s hope we have as good an attendance at meet ups this year as 2018! This month we will be meeting on 25th January from 1230 in the Lime Kiln.  We can also have a bite to eat here and then move on to the Head of Steam on Hanover Street.  We can then take a short walk to the Carnarvon Castle, then the Richmond and Wetherspoon’s The Welkin.  I look forward to seeing you then.

Real Ale Nov/Dec Meet Ups

23rd November – meet from 1230 in the Court Leet, Ormskirk. Please note this is a week before the usual last Friday. We will also visit the Railway, Tap Room No 12 and the Cricketers.

21st December – this will be our Christmas gathering. Please meet from 1pm in the Frank Hornby. We can have lunch here as well as a few pints! Around 3.30pm we will make our way to Maghull Cask and enjoy the real ale on offer. If you intend coming along it would be helpful if you could text me on 07801 656570. Cheers Sue

October Real Ale Meet Up

This month we are visiting Southport as this month’s last Friday the 26th coincides with CAMRA’s annual Beer Festival. We will be catching the 300 bus which is due at 1130 by the Alt pub (Liverpool Road South) so you can then work out what time to get to your nearest stop. We should arrive at Eastbank Street Southport about 1215. The beer festival is being held in St John Hall in Wright Street (road on left heading towards Asda) and 3 minutes walk from Southport train station. If you are a CAMRA member remember to bring your card for free entry otherwise it’s £4. We can spend a while here and then visit a few local pubs. September Real Ale Meet Up

Hello fellow drinkers, this month we will be again be visiting various real ale establishments in Liverpool on 28th September.  Please meet from 1230 in Wetherspoon’s Richard John Blackler (Great Charlotte Street).  We can have lunch here and a pint or two then visit Doctor Duncans, Ship and Mitre, Lion Tavern and Rigbys.  I look forward to seeing you then. July Real Ale Appreciation Meet Up

On 27th July we will be visiting various ale houses around Waterloo.  Please could you meet from 12 noon in the Picture House, South Road (Wetherspoon).  Those that wish to can have a bite to eat here.  We will also be visiting the Volunteer Canteen, Trap and Hatch and Four Ashes.  The 133 bus goes to Waterloo and arrives at Maghull Square at 23 minutes past the hour.  I will get on at the stop just before at 1122.  The last 133 bus leaves Waterloo at 1712.  Alternatively you could catch the train and change at Sandhills.  Look forward to seeing you then.

June Real Ale Appreciation Meet Up

On Friday 29th June we will be having a pub crawl around the Hardman Street area of Liverpool. Please meet in the Lime Kiln from 1230. We can have a bite to eat here and then walk up to the Grapes on the corner of Knight Street and Roscoe Street. From here we will walk up Hardman Street and left on to Hope Street to the Pen Factory. We will then retrace our steps and visit Mackenzie’s and on to the Dispensary. Hope to see most of you on what should be a really good day out.
