Nostalgia

With thanks to Alan Carr for this find:

A poem to which we can relate *

I remember the corned beef of my childhood,
And the bread that we cut with a knife,
When the children helped with the housework,
And the men went to work not the wife.

The cheese never needed a fridge,
And the bread was so crusty and hot,
The children were seldom unhappy,
And the wife was content with her lot,
well, maybe, maybe not

Tudors At The Walker

This event is now full.  The Walker have at last confirmed they will do two back to back tours on June 23rd at 3pm and 4pm. This has been a battle of will’s with the Walker.

If you let me know which you prefer beforehand hopefully it will work out ten and ten.

If we all arrive at 2pm, we can sort it at the venue.

Take care – Maureen

Maghull & Lydiate Book Sale Table

In the last few weeks a very kind person turned up at our book table with a bag full of books they no longer needed.  As usual we were more than glad to receive the books as we are still building up our stock after the pandemic.

One of the books that was brought in amongst the donation was called Codebreaking Sisters – Our Secret War.  We are hoping that this title will jog your memory so that the person who brought the books in could visit the Book Table as soon as possible.

The reason why?  Well we found something in one of the books that you might well want back.  We are holding it safe at the moment but look forward to returning it to its owner.

Please pop in and see us.
